About Us

Elizabeth Shaw, PhD – Practice Co- Founder/Co-Director

Elizabeth Shaw is a licensed psychologist with 35 years of experience in adult and child psychotherapy and assessment.  She has worked with a diverse population in a variety of mental health settings.  Her special areas of expertise are anxiety, depression, mindful eating, grief, end of life family consultations, and parenting classes. Dr. Shaw is a great listener and can help you understand how to work toward better life satisfaction.

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

Heather Currin LPA, LCAS, CCS – Practice Co-Founder/Co-Director

 

Heather Currin is a dually Licensed Psychological Associate and Licensed Clinical Addictions Specialist with more than 10 years of experience working with children, adolescents and adults. She has experience conducting a variety of comprehensive psychological, neuropsychological, cognitive, and substance use evaluations. Her experience has allowed her the opportunity to work with clients dealing with a number of issues including drug and alcohol addiction, depression, anxiety, and trauma. Heather also provides psycho-educational presentations to the public on substance abuse.

 

 

 

 

 

Jana Wilson, LPA – Practice Co-Founder/Co-Director

Jana Wilson is a Licensed Psychological Associate with over 10 years of experience working with children, adolescents and adults in various clinical settings, and she is experienced in conducting a multitude of psychological assessments. Her areas of expertise include evaluation for neurocognitive disorders secondary to strokes, traumatic brain injuries and other medical conditions, as well as diagnostic evaluations for Attention-Deficit/Hyperactivity Disorder, Autism Spectrum Disorder, and learning disabilities. She also has extensive experience working with adults and adolescents with various psychiatric conditions including depression, anxiety and bipolar disorder.

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

Ashley Phelps, LPA

Ashley Phelps is a Licensed Psychological Associate with over six years of in-patient mental health treatment experience, practicing as a psychologist since 2013. At the beginning of 2019, she transitioned to outpatient mental health, with a focus in conducting psychological, neuropsychological, and psycho-educational evaluations. Her areas of expertise are in the evaluation of severe persistent mental illness, Attention-Deficit/Hyperactivity Disorder (ADHD), Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD), and intellectual/learning disabilities. She also has training and experience in behavioral therapies and creating behavior plans. Ashley is an ally of the LGBTQ+ community, and she is gender affirming. She has completed formal training in writing referral letters for Gender Affirming Medical Care, and clients can contact her to discuss this process and schedule an appointment. Ashley is also currently seeing children, teens, and adults (ages 4 and up) at the Apex office for evaluations and testing.

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

Hillary Tunstall, LPA

Hillary Tunstall is a licensed psychological associate with experience in the private practice of Applied Behavioral Analysis therapy and assessment in the school system. Her 10 years in the field of ABA and assessment has been dedicated to children ranging in age from toddlerhood to teenage years. Much of this time has been spent working entirely with children with autism. This has allowed her to have particular experience and expertise in the area of assessment of autism and subsequent treatment planning.

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

Michelle Rich, LPA

Michelle Rich is a Licensed Psychological Associate with nearly 10 years of mental health experience in a variety of settings. She obtained her Master’s degree from North Carolina Central University and enjoys providing services to underserved populations. She has extensive experience in completing psychological evaluations with both children and adults. Patricia McGaffagan, LPA

Patricia McGaffagan is a licensed psychological associate with 40 years of experience in outpatient, inpatient, academic, forensic, and administrative settings. Ashley Hosey, LPA

Ashley Hosey is a Licensed Psychological Associate with both inpatient and outpatient mental health experience. In 2022, she transitioned to solo private mental health practice, with a focus of providing therapy to those who struggle with self-worth, big emotions/high sensitivity, binge eating disorder, and trauma. Jillian Fitch, LPA

Jillian Fitch is a Licensed Psychological Associate with over 15 years of experience working with diverse populations in various clinical settings including inpatient, residential, and corrections. She has experience conducting a variety of comprehensive psychological assessments with children, adolescents, and adults. Her expertise is in the evaluation and treatment of individuals with severe and persistent mental illness. She has experience working with individuals with various psychiatric conditions including depression, anxiety, schizophrenia, bipolar disorder, and various personality disorders. She also has training and experience in behavioral therapies and creating behavior/treatment plans. Rani Haddock, LPA

Rani Haddock is a Licensed Psychological Associate with experience working in a school setting, as well as in a state-operated developmental center. She has provided services and support to children and adults with intellectual and developmental disabilities and those with complex behavioral challenges. Rani joined the practice in 2023 and sees children, teens, and adults. She is accepting referrals for psychological evaluations/testing in our Creedmoor and Hillsborough locations.

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

Cassidy Murphy, LPA

Cassidy was raised in the mountains of western North Carolina. She earned her bachelor’s degree in psychology from Queens University of Charlotte, and her master’s degree in clinical psychology from the University of North Carolina Wilmington. Cassidy has been dually licensed in North Carolina as a Licensed Psychological Associate and a Licensed Clinical Addiction Specialist since 2019. Cassidy has experience in the administration of psychological and neuropsychological assessments to individuals from various ages and backgrounds. She also has experience providing Dialectical Behavior Therapy, Relapse Prevention, Cognitive Behavior Therapy and other therapeutic interventions to adult populations. She joined the NCCCPS to conduct psychological evaluations at the Asheville office.

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

Danita Bowling, Ph.D.

Danita Bowling is a Licensed Psychologist with experience in a variety of mental health settings. She enjoys working with individuals with severe and persistent illnesses, treatment-resistant mental illnesses, and with marginalized populations that have interfaced with the justice system. She also greatly enjoys teaching and training psychologists and providing community education about mental illness. Leslie Rogers, Psy.D., LPA

Leslie Rogers, PsyD, serves as the proprietor of Mental Health Talk, LLC, and holds the titles of Publisher and Chief Editor at Mental Health Talk magazine. Committed to fostering ongoing and open discussions on mental health, Dr. Rogers actively works to diminish stigmas and promote engagement in mental health services. Formerly employed with the Veteran’s Administration, she specialized in addressing a broad spectrum of mental health issues, including those stemming from complex trauma histories. Notably, Dr. Rogers conducted trauma groups specifically tailored for men. In her role as Team Lead of a multidisciplinary treatment team, she collaborated to formulate optimal treatment plans for veterans. Utilizing an integrative approach, didactic methods, and a recovery model, Dr. Rogers seamlessly incorporated Evidence-based Psychotherapies (EBPs) and various orientations and techniques in both individual and group psychotherapy sessions to foster optimal mental health and recovery. Since 2008, Dr. Rogers has accumulated diverse experience in clinical settings, including inpatient and outpatient dual diagnosis hospital environments for mild to severe mental illnesses, collegiate and public school settings, private practice, and outpatient substance abuse treatment centers. Her clinical services span a wide demographic, encompassing men, women, children, and families ranging in ages from 7 to 80 years. Dr. Rogers is also the host of Mental Health Talk, a web-based series that provides guests with a platform to share personal and professional experiences related to mental health through self-disclosure, awareness, education, and other facets. The overarching goal is to diminish stigmas and dispel myths surrounding mental health. Dr. Rogers conducts psychological evaluations in the Goldsboro location.

 

 

 

 

Mariah Ridgely, LPA

Mariah obtained her bachelor’s degree in psychology from West Virginia State University and her master’s in clinical psychology from Marshall University Graduate College. She has been a Licensed Psychological Associate (LPA) in North Carolina since 2020. Mariah began her career working with the adult and juvenile correctional population, where she conducted various psychological evaluations and provided therapeutic services using cognitive behavior therapy principles and interventions. Mariah has extensive experience administering psychological assessments for cognitive, achievement, and personality testing on adults and children. Additionally, she has worked with the Division of Rehabilitation in conducting psychological and vocational reports to qualify for program services and at the Center for Excellence in Disabilities, providing training and positive behavior support services to individuals with disabilities. Mariah has recently joined the NCCCPS to conduct psychological evaluations at the Greensboro office.
